North Point Star Studs

There is one star that does not move across the night. Sailors kept it on one shoulder and walked home. This stud is built around that idea of a fixed point: a single princess-cut lab-grown diamond, turned so it stands on its corner, held by four prongs. The prongs do not stop at the stone. Each one runs on into a slender ray, so the square becomes a four-pointed star and the light seems to come from the diamond rather than from the metal. There is no other stone, nothing to compete. Stone weights are 1 or 2 carats per ear, in 18K yellow, rose or white gold, PT950 platinum or S925 sterling silver. We make each pair to order, casting and setting it in 10 working days.

Design
A single princess-cut lab-grown diamond is turned onto its point and held at its four corners by V-shaped prongs. Each prong carries on outward into a slender, tapering ray with a softly rounded tip, so the stone itself becomes the centre of a four-pointed star. The rays are lightly satin on their upper face, the prongs polished bright. The star sits flat and close against the lobe, secured by a push-back post.

• 2 ct + 2 ct: about 13 mm high × 13 mm wide, roughly 6.5 mm deep
• Post: standard straight post with push-back.
